Primary Maths Tuition – Book a trial

Primary School Programme

Our Primary Maths Programme is focussed on helping your child develop the skills they need to excel at PSLE maths. This success very much depends on your child’s ability to solve problem sums and not just handle computational maths. It also requires your child to think differently, critically and independently.

LEARNING TO THINK DIFFERENTLY
Jointly developed with former school teachers and PSLE markers, our Primary Maths programme uses our proprietary systematic method of classifying complex heuristic problem sums to make learning, understanding, and revision simple and efficient for your child.

STRUCTURED WORKBOOK PRACTICE
We structure our workbooks by organising mathematics questions by topics and by concepts and grouping problem sums that require similar problem solving approaches. These workbooks are designed to provide your child the required practice in solving each type of sum in a step-by-step approach that builds on their understanding and their skills.

Because we set our students up to win in this way, they grow in confidence with the completion of every lesson and become independent maths learners.

WHY YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO LEARN TO SOLVE PROBLEMS IN MATHS

80% of PSLE mathematics examination questions require the use of problem-solving skills and techniques.

To achieve an A* for Math in PSLE, an integrated approach is required from young. The Singapore Primary Maths syllabus has undergone a transformation over the last decade, shifting away from Mathematics Operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on various forms of mathematical numerals (e.g. whole numbers, fractions, decimals, etc.)

and turning its focus to Applications and Analyses in the form of Heuristic Problem-Solving.

By gradually building up the necessary Primary maths skills from a young age, your child will be better prepared to tackle these questions in the PSLE using our proprietary Matrix Method approach.

The Matrix Method thought process breaks problem solving into 5 simple steps:

ESTABLISH A COMMON BASE

IDENTIFY THE VALUE

SOLVE 1 UNIT

GET READY FOR SECONDARY MATHS

Secondary Math Bridging Programme
With the PSLE over and your child preparing to enter Secondary 1 in the new year, it makes sense to give them a head start on what to expect in secondary school maths:

  • How to transition smoothly
  • What the main differences are
  • What new topics will be covered
  • What approach to take in learning O Level maths

This bridging programme was designed to help Primary 6 students transition easily to the secondary school maths classroom.

The good news for existing Matrix Math primary students is that we apply the same Matrix Method learning techniques to the different maths tasks introduced in the O Level syllabus. So while the math may sometimes be different, the ways to tackle the equations are very similar. This way, your child will be familiar with the tasks and find O level maths enjoyable as a result.
